The society was formed in December 1998 with the aim of encouraging interest in local history and natural history within the village. A programme of talks and walks is arranged each year.

Notices giving detailed information  are displayed on the Parish Hall Notice Board, in the village shop, and on this Website before each talk or walk with details of time and place.

July 15th 

‘Settle Folly’

A visit to the Settle Folly led by Anne Read.

August 19th

September 16th 

‘Long Preston Wet Grassland Project’

An illustrated talk by David Tayler,

Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust.

October 21st  

'The Annual General Meeting'

to be followed by a Local History Quiz.

November 18th 

‘Landscape Stories in the Forest of Bowland’

An illustrated talk by Cathy Hopley,

Communities & Funding Officer

with the Forest of Bowland AONB.

 

Talks will start at 7.30pm in the Parish Hall.

Walks and visits will start at 6.30pm from the arranged venue
