After an erratic growing season, which saw plenty of sunshine followed by lots of rain, Austwick residents rose to the challenge and submitted a record number of entries to this year's village show. The greatest increase in numbers was in the cooker, handicraft, and artistic flower classes, which were all of a very high standard. A large proportion of the additional entries was submitted by new entrants to the show. This was particularly encouraging and will, we hope, signify a resurgence of the show's popularity.

A New trophy was donated for the photography class by Malcolm Bowker, a keen photographer himself, in recognition of his love for Austwick and the surrounding area. The show committee would also like to thank the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust for contributing funds for new display boards through their 'Grassroots' scheme.
